Car Shakes When I Press The Brake Pedal
Vehicle: 2003 Mazda 6
Whenever I brake, my car shakes. I don't feel it in my steering wheel at all, it's just the pedal and the car itself. I'm thinking it's just my brake pads, but I'm afraid it might be my rotors. The pedal is NOT going to the floor or anything like that. It's just when I stop, it feels as if I have ABS.....which i don't. Any opinions?

you probably need new pads, and if they have worn out enough, you'll need new rotors too.

The brake rotors are likely the culprits, due to being wrapped or rust scabbed.

The most common problems are not usely the problem.in most cases the brake booster either is worn out,or master cylinder, but a leaking wheel cylinder will cause air to enter the system and the brakes will feel hard and unrespouseof

The brake rotors probably have excessive lateral runout.

While rotors and/or pads are still likely cuplprit, I agree with ECHIEF219 that the most common problem is not ALWAYS the solution. In this case, the mention that the vibration is felt through the pedal but NOT the steering wheel, as would normally happen, at least with front brake issues, makes me think that there could be more here, such as the master cylinder problem mentioned.
Certainly, check the rotors and pads. But if there is nothing wrong there, or if the problem persists after a brake relining, than pursue further, QUICKLY!
I have stressed before that any problem involving the three biggest control items on a car (Brakes, Tires, Steering) should be addressed NOW, not as soon as possible. A minor inconvinience today could prevent major expense in a few weeks or possibly even avoid an accident.

i m not totally familiar with your system .but rotores/drums are usually the cullprit.i would look at pad s first but more so the rotor s then shoes but again more so the drums .something is probably out of round!front brakes usually do 80%of your breaking so they r most likely to go first.look for caliper /cyclinder leaks while u r at it
