Vehicle: 2003 Saturn Ion
what is the life time of a car axel - I have a 2003 Saturn Ion that is over its warranty by 2000 miles because I drive it everyday for work, but the driver front axel is worn out - I have only had the car 2 years and Saturn Service Dept says they've never seen this before that it is a failure in a man made part because the boot isn't busted. I have the oil and filter change every 3 mos and tires rotated every 6 mos. - Should Saturn be responsible for a faulty part (axel)?

This is a tough call because your warrantee is expired - technically they are not responsible because of this - Not sure how many miles are on the car, but CV joints (the joint inside the axle) do go out.

Even if it was still under warrantee I'm not sure they would cover it. Some manufacturers consider axles a wearable item, and would not be covered anyway (similarly to tires, brakes, etc.)
