Vehicle: 1994 Dodge Spirit My car just clicks when I turn it over. It is not the alternator, i had that checked. Battery is 5 years old. Car will jump start but not stay running. What could be the problem? Somewhere on your car in the starting and vcharging system there is a lose or dirty connection. And chances are your batttery is your main culprit here. The battery is why it just clicks when you try to start it. It has some juice but not all. Also With the dirty connection you need to go through all the cables and connectionsat the battery alternator and starter to see that they are all clean bright and tight. When youre jumping the car, the motor winds up running off the alternator only. This is why it does not start again once the car is shut off - the battery is not holding any charge.
