MY CAR HAS THE ORIGINAL BODY MOUNT BUSHES.. I WAS TOLD BY THE MECHANIC THAT THEY SHOULD BE REPLACED..... ARE THEY THAT IMPORTANT AND WHAT EFFECT DO THEY HAVE ON THE VEHICLE?

If they are not broken, stretched, or cut, there is really no need to replace. Their function is to keep the body of the car attached to the frame without any metal touching.

There is also a real danger of breaking the mounting bolts if it has been in an area where rust is common.
